Hey there, young-adult-doing-some-career-thinking,
While we’re still knee-deep in 2019, we thought we’d share some important career tips we’ve collected so far this year. We’ll be sharing these tips in a series of blog entries over the next couple of weeks. So be sure to check back with our blog, and get all the tips!
We’ve all been there: submitted an exam late, slept through our alarm, forgot to reply to an email, almost lost a limb as the subway doors closed on our left ankle—the list goes on. Being punctual shows that you care and that, regardless of your other obligations (including sleep), you made it on time.
This is especially crucial when it comes to interviews. Showing up on time to an interview is like boarding a flight. Would you rather frantically run through the airport trying to find your gate or calmly sit in the Starbucks a couple of gates down and get your carry-ons sorted out before you take off? Ah, now we’re in the same boat … plane … you get the idea.
Interviews, meetings or other events that require you to be somewhere at a certain time often come with the added stress of finding a location for the first time. If you want to be sure that everything will go smoothly, physically make the commute on your own prior to the scheduled event. Make sure you pinpoint landmarks that will help you find the right route when you’re making the trip for real. For added motivation, we like to picture Judge Judy tapping mercilessly on her watch as we walk through the door 5 minutes late. *Shivers*
Check back soon for our second career tip! Hint: Question mark?
